short clear inSpire Lamp

This version of the inSpire Lamp uses a completely different material to achieve the same spiraling pyramidal shape as the other inSpire Lamps.

Similar to the landfill bound plywood, there were many small and odd-shaped piece of 1/2″ acrylic sheets occupying valuable floor space in the shop. Using the same design methods as before, I was able to glue these acrylic squares together using methylene chloride. This chemical is not very environmentally friendly, but it seemed to be the only way of adhering these small sheets to one another.

The lampshade is also custom made from scraps of black laminate and 1/4″ MDF, as well as solid maple wood. The lamp has a footprint of 6″ x6″ and is approximately 17″ tall.
